At Peter Lever Financial and Club Design, all advice and design work is individually conceived to meet the requirements of your club. We work within the guidelines of the Sports Council, and our architects are fully conversant with the strict criteria that must be adhered to. In a nutshell, we believe that we offer unparalleled advice and designs, and unlike many other companies, such as architectural practices, we work only in the sporting sector.
Our approach to a project is very simple. We will visit any club free of fees and without obligation. This initial visit allows the club to have a look at some of our past work, whilst giving us the opportunity to listen to your ideas and plans, giving both parties a starting point, without committing to unnecessary expense. If we think that your ideas would not be supported by grant aid, we will tell you at that early stage, before spending money on expensive designs, etc.
When employed by a sports club, our company would undertake all preliminary work, designs, comprehensive feasibility study (which forms the basis of a business plan), negotiate brewery or bank loans, advise on Lottery Application and supporting literature and apply for planning consent when applicable.
If contemplating a capital project that requires Lottery assistance, check the following: -
- A lottery grant application to The Sports Council MUST BE sporting led and NOT facility led.
- Sports Development Programmes, that include boys, girls, ladies, ethnic minorities and disabled groups, are of paramount importance. Everyone in the local community should have the opportunity to enjoy the sports on offer.
- Any sporting facilities included in your proposed scheme should be based upon the club's need for the sport to be provided.
- It is imperative that all designs, supporting literature and documentation comply with the stringent conditions laid down by the Sports Council. It is strongly advised to read all the literature included in a Lottery Application pack, which is fairly comprehensive and easy to understand.
- If the project requires designs, make sure that the architects selected understand the design requirements of the Sports Council. Also ensure that the chosen architects understand how a sports club works. It would not be advisable to employ a person expert in designing motorway fly-overs!
- Check to see if your club falls within the Priority Areas Initiative.
- Is your project deemed to be strategically important in sporting terms?
- Do you have sufficient capital of your own to fund your share of the project cost? If not, can you manage to raise it?
- Have you consulted your local Sports Council Lottery officer? Good advice can be obtained from this source.
- Does your scheme require planning consent?
- Is the scheme viable? A business plan will be required to prove that it is.
We take care of the club‘s interests by ensuring that all these matters are dealt with.
